"The Black Barbie Movement"

The topic of Barbie has created controversy over the past year. Many believe that female rapper Nicki Minaj (Onika Maraj) started the movement and think its ridiculous or crazy. The way I see it Nicki is just a die hard fan of Barbie and used her love of the infamous Barbie doll to create her image. But as we all should know Nicki did not create the obsession. Mattel did ... when they made their first Barbie. When I was a little girl every girl I knew collected Barbies. I loved Barbie because she seemed perfect. I envied her poise and perfection. She had beautiful hair, perfect body, flawless makeup, fancy cars, Ken, and her own dollhouse. Barbie didn't rely on Ken to provide anything for her ... she had it all. Today women have lost sight of this and revolved their lives around men. As women we must be independent. Almost every girl loves hair and makeup ... why not look the best we can ... we only have one body ... so treat her right! SN: I am in no way telling you to look exactly like the plastic Barbie doll. If Mattel wanted to make a Barbie inspired by you and your personality ... what would it look like? Therefore my examples of Real Life Barbies may not fit your stereotypical image. This is simply a fashion and makeup blog. Enjoy!
